STAMPED CONCRETE CONTRACTORS IN DENVER COLORADO

Stamped Concrete Contractors in Denver like "Back Yards Plus" make us look good, and we want you to see their beautiful stamped concrete work and let Joe Van Dyke tell you how they do it.
Stamped Concrete is imprinted or quite literally stamped into the concrete before the concrete gets hard. There are beautiful Patterns in stone, brick, tiles, and wood floors, and there is even a pattern that exactly duplicates an old cracked asphalt driveway! Go figure, we asked Joe Van Dyke at Back Yards Plus in Denver and he said every old castle, Brick side street, or any other Old World look needed in the Movies is done in Stamped concrete, and there’s a good reason.
Joe says we can prep, stamp, and seal a stamped concrete road, city square, or realistic old brick alley way, while any of the other trades are still in the planning stage.

Back Yards Plus recently Installed an absolutely real looking Flagstone Patio in stamped concrete, in days in Genesee, and regular flagstone patios can take a month, or longer, as anyone who has had one done knows.
Whenever we start working on a stamped concrete project the first thing we do is put a visqueen barrier on all the walls and surfaces that could be damaged by concrete, and the color hardeners we put in the stamped concrete at the time of the pour.

We then begin the process of removing grass and any old concrete and haul it away to the dump, and then we begin the process of grading the dirt fill and compacting it over, and over with a jumping jack compactor, and we add a class six road base, which is very stable whenever more fill is needed.

Formwork is done at the same time we’re prepping the ground, which includes, steps, stairways, walkways, and fire pits in the patios, and just about anything else you camn Imagine.
Steel rebar is placed on 2’ centers in all areas where we have stamped concrete, as well as rebar in the thickened edges and footers around all the edges of the patios and driveways.

We then get the stamped concrete areas approved by the homeowner and set up concrete for the following morning weather permitting.

The concrete is then placed and leveled in the patio or driveway, and we immediately begin adding the color hardeners to the concrete so it penetrates into the concrete, and we then begin the process of bull floating and finishing the concrete surface until it’s smooth.

The next step before stamping is too broadcast a second color all over the surface to be stamped, which also acts as a release agent for the stamps. This is what gives the stamped concrete it authentic looks and feel. Joe says if you’ve ever made cookies, you’ll remember how you were taught to put flour on your hands so the cookie dough wouldn’t stick to them; this is how we keep the rubber stamps from sticking to the still wet concrete, and stamp the second color in at the same time.
The stamps are removed as the stamping process is done and the concrete is left to cure for a day or two, and then the entire area is cleaned up and washed down, and control joints are cut in the concrete to prevent cracking.

The final step is the cleaning and sealing of the stamped concrete which can usually be done in a day as long as the surface is completely dry. A clear sealer is applied and many times they use a sharks tooth in the sealer as it’s called to make a skid resistant surface.

Come down to Joe’s showroom in Denver at 70TH street and Washington and look at the samples and let one of his designers show you some examples and great ideas for your home.
