Which Paver do you want? Concrete-Brick-Stone? The word paver get’s thrown around a lot, and it’s confusing for homeowners. There are three types of Pavers, so we’re going to do a few articles this week clearing up; when to use which paver, and what and where you should use the different types of pavers; as well as the cost and design capabilities, and the things to keep in mind when using them in Colorado with our expansive soils, and extreme weather changes each year. Here’s the lowdown on laying down pavers at your home; today will clear up the different paver types and we’ll keep doing articles on design and Installation of pavers, until you feel like a pro!

Concrete pavers: are manmade, using cement, aggregates, and pigments, to give them their color and many different shapes. There is a huge selection of colors and shapes available, and they last well in any climate under any conditions. Sealing the concrete pavers every few years will help keep their color looking like new, and will protect them from grease and oil stains, on Driveways as well as the many things that people drop on patios at Parties and BBQs.
Concrete pavers are the most economical of the group to use, because the raw materials used to make the concrete pavers are not expensive. Concrete pavers can be used for Driveways, Patios, walkways, Retaining walls, parking lots, and many other Landscaping and Hardscape solutions. We’ll talk more about their uses and Installation with some of the Concrete paver contractors this week at www.abc123.com .

Brick pavers: are made from real clay in the earth and have the natural color of the clay, so they’ll retain their true colors for as long as the Bricks last which is a very long time. Brick pavers are red and variations of red in darker colors. If you’re looking for unlimited colors, you need to stay with the concrete pavers. Brick pavers contain real clay, and are baked at temperatures of over two thousand degrees, and they are practically indestructible. Clay pavers maintain their color because they’re not affected by ultraviolet light, and there are no pigments added when they’re made, and this is the reason clay brick pavers don’t fade.

Stone pavers: are made by Mother Nature over millions of years. They’re not made at the manufacturing plant. They’re natures finest and Stone pavers are always more expensive because they have to be mined from the earth at stone quarries. Granite Limestone, Sandstone, and Slate are the most common stone pavers, and the Granite pavers work great on Driveways because they’re so hard. Stone pavers are used in residential and commercial jobs, like driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, pool decks, patios. Stone pavers are beautiful and they’re not hard to install, just be ready to pay the price for these beautiful pavers, they’ve been under construction for millions of years, and they’ll last another million or so years! That’s a pretty good warranty when you think about it.

This is our primer on Pavers, now that we all know which one's are which, we can have some fun talking about all the different ways you can use them to make your home a showcase for Mother Nature’s finest! Get ready for a bunch of great articles here on pavers, and we'll have real paver pros here in Denver to give you great advice.
